Edinburgh Crematorium Ltd was established in 1928 by the Edinburgh Cremation Society, in order to supply the citizens of Edinburgh with cremation facilities. The following year Warriston Crematorium carried out its 1st cremation. From the beginning Warriston has been the pre-eminent crematorium in Scotland. Its 1st cremation, carried out on October 29th 1929, was of the late Allan Henderson who had been His Majesty's Consul in Malaga at the time of his death.
